St Martin's School

An independent, co-educational preparatory school.

EYFS

St Martin’s EYFS class caters for children aged 3-5 years old. We are open from 8:10 am to 5:30 pm during term time. We offer 15 and 30 hours of funded childcare.

At St Martin’s we believe that happy and joyful children are more receptive to learning and when they have this confidence in themselves they achieve great success. Our objective is to ignite a deep passion and enthusiasm for learning in every child, achieved not only through enriched experiences but also through a comprehensive and high quality education supported by an exceptional level of care. At St Martin’s we achieve this through continuous provision, supporting and ensuring every child’s needs and interests are met. This is facilitated through:

  • Enthusiastic, highly qualified and nurturing team of staff.
  • Small class sizes.
  • Strong focused sessions on numeracy and literacy.
  • Engaging lessons in knowledge and understanding, expressive arts and design, personal social and emotional development and language and communication.
  • An enhanced Early Years curriculum including subject specialist teaching in Music, PE and RE.
  • Enriched play which includes baking, drama, coding, computers and science.
  • Muddy Monday, where children get the opportunity to explore the outdoors at our local park in structured, well planned and enriched lessons.
  • Planned trips to support learning every half term.
  • Self-serving morning snacks.
  • Freshly made, nutritious balanced meals prepared by our chef.

Our EYFS children benefit from being part of the wider school where they are supported and nurtured by the older children. We provide a gentle but assured curve in their learning, which lays the foundation for their future development.

We invite you into the world of your child though ‘Tapestry’. This is a means for you to share in your child’s learning journey. Our staff update the children’s profiles regularly so that you are able to see what your child is learning in school. You will be able to see photographs and videos of them participating in our rich, varied and exciting curriculum.
